Bender Privacy Policy
Bender (“we,” “our,” or “us”) explains how we collect, use, and share information in the Bender hockey training app. This policy is meant to satisfy Apple App Store privacy requirements, including what we collect, why, who processes it, how long we keep it, and how you delete it.
1. Who this app is for
Bender is not intended for children under 13. You must be at least 13 to create an account. If you are under 18, a parent or guardian should review this policy and supervise use of the app. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we learn we have, we will delete it.
2. Information we collect
Account: username, display name, hashed password, recovery email, age (13+), hockey position and level, optional height/weight, and similar profile fields you enter.
Training and fitness: workouts, programs, XP, titles, equipment, benchmarks and performance tests (such as jump, agility, or conditioning results), Mental Game activity, and training history.
Teams and social: team membership, coach/player role, Buddies groups, friends, Bender Board display preferences, chirps and reactions, and similar posts you choose to share.
Device permissions (only if you allow them in iOS Settings):
- Camera — movement analysis, training feedback, and scanning QR codes to join teams, workouts, or programs.
- Microphone — optional audio recorded with video for performance drills.
- Calendar — so coaches can import game dates without retyping them.
- Notifications — optional post-ice poll reminders after games.
We do not keep raw camera video on our servers unless you explicitly save or share it. Analysis is used to provide feedback in the app.
Purchases: Apple tells us whether Bender Pro is active (subscription status / App Store transaction identifiers needed to unlock features). We do not receive your full Apple ID password or full card number from Apple. If Bender teams are billed through a payment processor (for example Stripe), that processor handles payment details.
Support: if you email us, we receive the address and message you send, which may include app version or device information you include.
We do not use advertising identifiers. Tracking is off. We do not sell personal information.
3. How we use information
We use it to create and secure your account; deliver training, teams, Buddies, Board, and related features; personalize programs and recommendations; process App Store Bender Pro entitlements; send account-recovery and team-billing email; review reports of abuse; and operate, maintain, and protect the service.
4. Who we share with (processors)
We share information only as needed to run Bender:
- Railway — hosting the Bender API and stored account/training data
- Resend — account recovery, team-billing checkout links, and similar transactional email
- Apple — In-App Purchase and App Store subscription status for Bender Pro
- Stripe or similar — team/organization billing when a Bender team is paid that way
- YouTube / Google — some drill videos may load in the app; those providers may collect data under their own policies when a video plays
We do not share your data with third-party advertisers. We may disclose information if required by law or to protect safety.
5. Tracking, ads, and HealthKit
NSPrivacyTracking is false. We do not track you across other companies’ apps and websites for advertising. We do not use HealthKit as the source of the fitness data described above; training data is collected in Bender.
6. Retention
We keep account and training data while your account exists. After you delete your account in the app, we remove it from production systems. We may retain limited records (for example abuse reports, security logs, or records Apple or the law requires) for a reasonable period. App Store subscription records remain with Apple according to Apple’s policies.
7. Your choices
- Update profile and recovery email in the app (Menu → Profile).
- Delete your account in Profile → Delete account (password required). This is completed in the app and does not require emailing us, though you may contact us if something fails.
- Cancel Bender Pro in Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions. Account deletion does not cancel Apple billing.
- Turn off camera, microphone, calendar, and notifications in iOS Settings. Some features will not work without those permissions.
- Report or block other users from player cards, Buddies chirps, Friends, Bender Board, and team messages.
- Email support@benderhockey.com to ask what data we hold or to request help deleting an account.
8. Security
Passwords are stored hashed. We use HTTPS for the production API. No method of transmission is 100% secure.
9. International users
Servers may be located in the United States or where our host (Railway) operates. If you use Bender from another country, you consent to processing in those locations.
10. Changes
We may update this Privacy Policy. The “Last updated” date will change. Continued use after an update means you accept the updated policy.
